Gordon Cole QC and Simon Berkson, barristers at Exchange Chambers, has secured the acquittal of farmer Mark Done in a high profile murder trial.
John Iveson, 36, from Nantwich in Cheshire, disappeared in January 2007. His body has never been found and it was claimed that the accused may have fed his remains to pigs.
Mark Done and a second farmer, Paul Billington, Mr Iveson’s brother in law, were both found not guilty of murder at Chester Crown Court. The jury took an hour and a half to deliver its verdict.
One theory raised by the defence team, led by Gordon Cole QC, was that Mr Iveson may have fled the country before allegations of child sex abuse were about to surface. It was also claimed there were others who may have wanted him dead.
The judge, Mr Justice Maddison, thanked the jurors for their conduct on a "highly complicated" trial and excused them from jury service for 10 years.
