Exchange Chambers has continued its fast paced expansion in Leeds by welcoming three QCs as door tenants.
The set’s new door tenants – Dafydd Enoch QC, Cairns Nelson QC and Eleanor Laws QC - are all heavyweight criminal specialists at London sets.
Dafydd Enoch QC was called to the Bar in 1985 and took silk in 2008. He specialises in general crime, fraud, regulatory and disciplinary proceedings and corporate crime. He is a member at 23 Essex Street in London.
Also a member at 23 Essex Street, Cairns Nelson QC was called to the Bar in 1987 and took silk in 2010. He specialises in general crime, fraud and corporate crime.
Eleanor Laws was called to the Bar in 1990 and took silk on 7 April 2011. She is regularly instructed in all manner of criminal cases, in particular serious violence – including murder – serious sexual offences and drugs importations. She is a member of Six Pump Court in London and author of “The Sexual Offences Referencer” (Oxford University Press).
Commenting on the arrival of three new QCs as door tenants, Tom Handley, Director of Chambers said:
“This is tremendous news for our Leeds Chambers.
“To have three silks joining Chambers as door tenants just six months after we opened in Leeds is a hugely positive development.
“Dafydd, Cairns and Eleanor all chose Exchange Chambers as their set of choice outside London because of our expanding Leeds base, through which they are already receiving instructions in heavyweight criminal cases.”
Added Tom:
“It’s a really good fit all round.
“Chambers has a substantial fraud practice and both Dafydd and Cairns are recognised for their specialist expertise in this niche area. Dafydd is on the SFO list of approved silks while Cairns has been standing counsel to be RCPO since 2006.
“Eleanor is regularly instructed in heavyweight criminal matters which again complements the department as a whole.” She was recently instructed to act for four of the defendants in the child abuse investigation at the Haut de la Garenne children’s home in Jersey.
Said Gordon Cole QC, head of Exchange Chambers’ Criminal Department:
“We are delighted to strengthen and expand our criminal department with the arrival of three criminal silks as door tenants. They are all first rate criminal practitioners.”
Said Rob Rode, partner at Clarion Advocates:
“To bring in three London silks as door tenants so soon after opening in Leeds is a sign of the progress Exchange Chambers is making. They’ve made a real impact in Leeds.”
