Paul Taylor and Kevin Slack, barristers at Exchange Chambers, have successfully prosecuted Preston Council's former deputy leader Frank McGrath who has been found guilty of money laundering for a Class A drug trafficker.
Frank McGrath, 59, has been convicted unanimously of nine counts of concealing, converting or disguising criminal property for Silvano Turchet, 55, a man who was convicted in February 2007 of trafficking class A drugs.
The charges the ex-Labour councillor was convicted of relate to around £330,000 he gave to Turchet between January 2004 and November 2006.
The court had heard the money was used towards the purchase of a house at Jarvis Way, Wrexham, for Turchet's then mistress, a piece of land in Italy, a hangar where he stored an aeroplane used to import drugs and a £17,000 designer watch.
McGrath, who has no previous convictions, is expected to be sentenced next Wednesday. The trial, before Judge Robert Atherton, has lasted more than five weeks.
