Exchange Chambers has expanded its service offering with the launch of a dedicated Motoring and Vehicle Crime department.
Comprising 16 specialist motoring barristers, Exchange Chambers’ Motoring and Vehicle Crime department is believed to be the biggest of its type in the UK.
In preparation for the launch, Exchange Chambers undertook extensive market research to ascertain the requirements of motoring solicitors throughout the country when instructing barristers.
The research indicated that 76.2 % of solicitors assess a motoring case on its merits before deciding whether to keep the advocacy in house or instruct external counsel – with 19% always keeping advocacy in house and 4.8% always instructing external counsel.
The figures also indicated that there appears to be very little loyalty towards a specific set of Chambers or individual barristers, with just 5.6% of solicitors saying they always instruct the same barrister or set of Chambers.
When asked for the most important factors when instructing a motoring barrister, legal knowledge and value for money were highlighted as key.
“We are very pleased to launch this new department, “ said Tom Handley, Director of Chambers at Exchange Chambers.
“We’ve done things the right way round by asking our potential clients for their views and tailoring our service to suit, “he added. “Everything suggests there is a real gap in the market for us to fill.”
Exchange Chambers’ Motoring and Vehicle Crime department provides specialist advice and representation on all manner of offences. Acting for individuals, companies and some of the UK’s largest insurers, the Set has proven track record on a national level.
