The latest round of silk appointments has been announced today with Amanda Yip of Exchange Chambers awarded QC status.
Amanda was called to the Bar in 1991 and practises in personal injury and clinical negligence. She has considerable experience of catastrophic injury litigation on behalf of claimants. Amanda is also a Recorder and an Accredited Mediator.
“On behalf of everyone at Chambers, I would like to congratulate Amanda on her appointment to QC. It is thoroughly deserved,” said Tom Handley, Director of Chambers at Exchange Chambers.
A total of 118 barristers and two solicitor advocates have been appointed silk, Lord Chancellor and justice secretary Kenneth Clarke announced this morning.
Professor Dame Joan Higgins, the chair of the QC selection panel, said:
"Once again, the quality of applicants was very high and the panel has been impressed with the wide range of backgrounds and practices represented among the new Queen's Counsel.
"We noted, in particular, the success of some two-thirds of all female applicants who are taking silk this year. Relatively few female advocates are putting themselves forward for consideration for QC. But the markedly higher success rate for women applicants this year should send a positive signal to all suitably qualified women advocates, whether barrister or solicitor.”
