Practice Nicola is a specialist criminal practitioner who has particular experience in a wide variety of cases including:- • homicide, • serious sexual offences, • serious organised crime (including serious violence, firearms and drug trafficking), • corruption, • fraud (including MTIC fraud, money laundering and benefit fraud) • Confiscation and POCA She is a Category 3 prosecutor and is also on the Attorney General's list of Counsel. Recent notable cases Operation Needles - Junior Prosecution counsel in multi-handed conspiracy to supply class A drugs conspiracy case. Operations Lexis & Erasure: Junior counsel for the Prosecution in two recent MTIC fraud prosecutions involving losses to the revenue of £millions and complex money laundering issues. R v McGrail x 2, Connolly, Mann, McNally, Kendrick; R v Mann, Nimbley & Laycock – Lone Prosecution counsel in two multi-handed linked firearms cases (5 separate indictments), involving the possession and supply of a number of firearms (including Uzi, Various rifles and machine guns) and significant amounts of prohibited ammunition. R v Sammon et al – Nicola represented the 2nd defendant (firearm’s dealer’s girlfriend) in a 3 month, multi-handed “jury protected” trial. R v X - Nicola represented a 14 year old defendant charged with raping a 14 year old girl whilst he was 13 years of age. General: Nicola continues to be part of 3 counsel team advising in relation to other potential MTIC and money laundering prosecutions. Personal Nicola was born and brought up in Liverpool before she obtained a first class LLB (Hons) degree from the University of Leeds and then ventured to London where she completed her BVC and became a member of Gray’s Inn. Nicola is a former Junior of the Northern Circuit and is a member of the Criminal Bar Association. When not enjoying good food and wine, Nicola enjoys participating in a wide range of sporting activities, including skiing, sailing, running and walking her dogs.
