Doncaster Crown Court.Death by careless driving.

Client charged with causing death by careless driving following accident involving a Motability scooter.

 

R v Williams 2012 (ongoing)

Mold Crown Court.Allegation of dangerous driving by a taxi driver causing serious injury to a passenger.

 

R v Thomas (2011)

Maidstone Crown Court. Death by dangerous driving.

High profile case involving HGV driver charged with death by dangerous driving on M25. Prosecution forced to offer no evidence as defence is raised of non-insane automatism (severe sleep apnoea).

 

R v Redmond 2011

Lewes Crown Court. Death by dangerous driving.

Following submissions charge reduced to death by careless driving. Client sentenced to a low level community order based on mitigation regarding the condition of road markings and research which revealed a number of similar accidents at the location over the preceding 7 years.

 

R v Case 2010

Careless driving.No evidence offered on day of trial. Taxi driver who stood to lose his licence had the prosecution been successful. Enquiries revealed the incident had been covered by CCTV never disclosed to the defence.

 

R v Cartledge 2010

Worcester Crown Court. Careless driving. Case involved overtaking on a blind bend. Victim suffered severe injuries. Client sentenced to suspended term of imprisonment despite the severity of the accident.

 

Recent Other Cases

 

R v X 2011

Convicted former terrorist charged with s.18 assault and false imprisonment. Defendant had numerous previous convictions for serious violent offences. Successfully mitigated against a sentence of imprisonment for public protection. Case was particularly difficult and sensitive due to the client’s past.

 

R v Ann Young-Morgan (2011 )

Junior alone.Former practice manager at a firm of solicitors charged with theft from the firms accounts amounting to £1.5million.

 

R v Peat &Ors (2011)

Junior alone. Covert police operation which uncovered a large scale conspiracy of theft of motor vehicles and supplying of class A drugs. Sentence successfully appealed and reduced from 10 years custody to 7 years.

 

R v Sprake&Ors (2010)

Large scale organised football violence involving Swansea v Cardiff supporters.
