David has wide experience in cases involving motoring and vehicle crime. He has appeared in Magistrates Courts and Crown Courts in the North West and around the country. He has represented litigants in the Court of Appeal. He prides himself on thorough preparation and attention to detail.
Relevant cases of particular note include: * R v A and S (2011 – ongoing) – allegations of fraud arising from country-wide fraudulent scheme to assist dishonest members of the public to remove penalty points from driving licences; linked to bogus wheel-clamping operation (prosecuting) * R v Christian (2010) – serving police officer charged with dangerous driving following serious multi-vehicle collision – acquitted by the jury (defending) * R v Flannery (2010) – Senior employee of Trafford Borough Council charged with conspiracy to defraud arising out of allegations of systematic and sustained misuse of weighbridges – Crown offered no evidence after two days of legal argument (defending) * R v Akhtar -(2006) – businessman charged with conspiracy to defraud arising out of allegations of bogus driving tests – acquitted on direction of the Judge (defending) * R v Emery [2004] 2 Cr App R (S) 141 - sentence appeal to the Court of Appeal concerning the effect of the condition of sleep apnoea on a defendant convicted of death by dangerous driving on the M6 motorway (defending).
