Andrew has established a busy criminal practice that incorporates the full spectrum of criminal work. He has been instructed as trial counsel in a number of serious cases including section 18 assaults, aggravated burglaries, drug related offences, sexual assaults and fraud. Prior to coming to the Bar Andrew gained invaluable experience working for the Crown Prosecution Service for a number of years in Cleveland.
Examples of recent cases:
R v W (2010) Durham Crown Court- The Defendant faced one count of aggravated burglary. Prosecution offered no evidence on the day of trial.
R v M (2010) Grimsby Crown Court- The Defendant faced an offence contrary to section 2 of the Sexual Offences Act upon his 12 year old daughter. The Prosecution offered no evidence following a Defence application for disclosure of material held by the police.
R v B (2010) Bradford Crown Court- The Defendant was acquitted of an allegation of a s 47 assault after trial. The Defendant’s two co-accused pleaded guilty. The issue in the case was identification and the Defendant had been positively identified in the Viper Procedure.
R v K (2010) Bradford Crown Court- The Defendant was detained under s 48 of the Mental Health act and faced three allegations on the indictment in relation to an 86 year old man who was robbed and burgled twice in his own home. The Defendant was acquitted of the 2 most serious counts on the indictment and consequently was sentenced to a suspended term of imprisonment.

R v M (2011) Leeds Crown Court- Possession with intent to Supply Class A drugs.
R v G (2011) Teesside Crown Court- Rape.
