Widespread national reporting. • 2010/2011 Operation Raiment – Defending alleged multi-million pound payroll fraud • 2008 R v Brumskill – multi-million pound ILA fraud – acted for acquitted alleged ringleader in a cut-throat defence. • 2009/2010 R v Goodison – defending alleged participation in €90 million fraud on the HSBC bank. • 2009 Operation Humidity – Defending multi- million pound false invoice VAT fraud. • 2009 Operation Seahog – Defending multi- million pound Security Industry fraud. • R v Ornstein – acted for acquitted defendant accused of attempting to defraud Irish banks of $35 million as part of a Nigerian Advance Fee Fraud. Large Scale Drugs Conspiracies/Confiscation/Money Laundering • 2008 Operation Cirrate – defending one of a number of defendants in an alleged conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs • R v Millea – prosecuting 3 men for conspiracy to supply cocaine to undercover police officers • 2008 R v Wilde – confiscation proceedings in multi-million pound importation of cocaine • R v Yates – acted for acquitted serving police officer accused of possession of a large quantity Class A drugs in a night-club. Homicide/Serious Violence • 2009/2010 R v McDonald – junior counsel for Defendant in the Joseph Lappin murder case. Widespread national reporting. • 2009 R v Wright – successful defence of nursing assistant at special needs school accused of cruelty to one of the pupils. • R v Miller – defending a man of good character accused of attempting to murder his girlfriend • R v Hughes – defending a man accused of attempted murder and the attempted decapitation of his victim • R v Smith and others – prosecuting large-scale crowd disturbance following Wrexham v Port Vale football match • R v Edwards – defending young man of good character accused of causing multiple injuries to his 3-month old daughter by shaking Other • 2010 Operation Blackbird – defending one of a number of Defendants in a conspiracy to commit high-value aggravated burglaries of exclusive residential properties.
