Alison specialises in taxation advisory work and tax based litigation for individuals and corporate clients. Her particular expertise is in indirect taxation particularly VAT, Excise and the Environmental Taxes.
Alison is recommended in the Legal 500 2011 for her Tribunal (Tax Chamber) work.
Since returning to independent practice in 2010, Alison has developed her practise in general commercial and chancery law and is instructed in a wide range of advisory and litigation work. She has worked extensively in the Consumer Protection and Consumer Credit arena most significantly in relation to Enforcement Orders pursuant to the Enterprise Act.
Alison undertakes insolvency work, particularly where there is a tax “twist”, advises in relation to director’s duties, personal guarantees and all aspect of commercial law.
As former Senior Government Lawyer Alison has extensive experience of administrative and public law and regularly advises and conducts litigation in this area.
Alison advises and acts in relation to Local Government and Registered Social Landlord matters including: tax liabilities, procurement, possession hearings, housing benefit matters before the Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber) and public law matters including Freedom of Information and Judicial Review.
