William Hanbury

Bill undertakes a wide variety of civil litigation and advisory work but specialises in property litigation, including landlord and tenant (both commercial and residential), housing and professional negligence. He also undertakes rating law including business rate and council tax disputes and has acted for both rating authorities and ratepayers before the Lands Chamber and the Administrative Court and has appeared in judicial review applications relating to housing and immigration decisions. He has advised a number of local authorities and RSL’s since joining Chambers in 2008.

 

Bill has also undertaken work involving:

 

•           Defective premises and occupiers liability claims

•           Legal problems associated with stock transfers

•           Asylum and immigration law

•           Legal problems with mental incapacity and the creation

of new leases to such persons by social landlords

Bill is the author of “Defective Premises Law and Practice” published by Sweet and Maxwell in 2009. He has also written a large number of case notes and articles and has lectured regularly for Liverpool Law Society and CLT. He is a part-time immigration judge of both the First and Upper Tiers of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber.
