David Knifton

David practises exclusively in personal injuries and clinical negligence, and is recommended in The Legal 500 as a leader in those fields. Recently described as "inspirational to work with", he wins praise from instructing solicitors on behalf of both claimants and defendants for his excellent up to the minute knowledge of the law and current legal issues in PI litigation, his thorough preparation, approachable and accommodating nature, clear and well reasoned advice, excellent advocacy and negotiation skills, and great empathy with lay clients, whom he involves in every part of the litigation process.

David has extensive experience of all aspects of personal injury work, acting for both claimants and defendants including a number of local authorities. His instructions almost exclusively involve claims with a value in excess of £100,000, and include a number of catstrophic injury claims with substantially higher values. In the last 3 calender years, he has assisted his claimant clients to recover damages of almost £34m, including two cases each attracting a gross award in excess of £8m. His largest award to date, acting without a leader, is £5.85m. His work includes:
