Christopher Barnes

Chris practises exclusively in the areas of personal injury, clinical negligence and related litigation. He represents both Claimants and Defendants. He has been appointed to the Attorney General's Panel of Junior Counsel. He is recommended by the Legal 500:

Chris has experience of all levels of multi track claims up to £8 million, particularly:

* Spinal injury and other catastrophic injuries;
* Social services negligence and abuse claims;
* Fatal accidents claims;
* Military claims;
* Employer's liability and disease claims;

* Product liability - currently acting for over 100 claimants in the De Puy defective implant litigation.

Recent cases include:

* Failure to take into care allegations;
* Obstetric and midwifery negligence;
* Arguments as to section 4 FAA;
* Sowden arguments and issues as to the index linking of PPOs in the CICA;
* A court award of £329,000 in a deafness claim against the MOD; [see report]

* Approved settlement of £1.55 million with PPOs of £165,000.
