David Potter appointed as Circuit Judge

The Queen has appointed David Andrew Potter to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Gauke MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Northern Circuit, based at Preston Crown Court with effect from 1 July 2019.

David Andrew Potter, aged 52, will be known as His Honour Judge David Potter. He was called to the Bar by Lincolns Inn in 1990. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2016.

David is an accomplished advocate before juries and Appellate Courts in all aspects of criminal law. He appears regularly as a leading junior having been a Category 4 Prosecutor since 1999. He has particular strength in cases involving fraud, homicide, motoring and vehicle crime, organised crime, serious sexual offences, cases involving telecommunications, and asset recovery.
